Mixed Media (Grades 1-8)

Discover the joy of artistic expression at DEAN Adventure Camps’ Mixed Media Studio. From embroidery to crafting bath bombs, our weekly camps offer a range of activities to spark creativity. Regardless of where a camper stands in their artistic pursuits, we aim to build confidence and foster a passion for hands-on learning.

General Daily Schedule:

• Morning introduction

• Activity period—approximately 1 hour

• Snack and stretch break—approximately 15 minutes, outside weather permitting

• Activity period—approximately 1 hour

• Lunch and Recess break—approximately 1 hour, outside weather permitting

• Activity period—approximately 2 hours (included in this time can be a stretch break as needed)

• Clean up, pack up, dismissal

SFX Makeup Magic (Grades 2-8)

From Glam to Grandma, illusionary effects “makeup” this exciting, creative, and unique camp. Throughout the week, campers make custom colors using oil-based makeup palettes, craft prosthetics, and delve into visual tricks from old-age makeup to mind-bending optical illusions.

By week’s end, whether they create characters to spook or charm, don’t be surprised to see some wild new creations.

Techniques Learned in SFX Makeup Magic

Brush Techniques, Color Mixing SFX, Color Theory, Contour, Illustration- Face Croquis, Illustration- Fashion Croquis, Mood Boarding, Painting, Scar Wax, Sculpting, Design Process.

Fiber Arts (Grades 1-8)

Dive into a vibrant world of fiber arts where colors and textures come alive! In this camp, our fiber artists will explore the magic of yarn, fabric, and threads. Within just a week, they’ll craft unique creations perfect as gifts, cherished keepsakes, or functional pieces. We’ll cover a spectrum of techniques, from loom-knitting and felting to embroidery and weaving.

Campers can come back week to week or year after year to experience new themes and projects and of course, continue to build their fiber arts skills. Join us as we weave a tapestry of fun and learning each week!
