For Summer 2025, flavors come alive in our Culinary Arts Studio, from baked goods to sweet treats! Here, young chefs can choose between three camp programs—Mad Food Scientists, The Great Camp Bake Off, and Sweet Treats on the Big Screen. Here they'll develop curiosity exploring the science and stories behind their favorite dishes. As they experiment with new recipes and techniques, cooking enthusiasts strengthen creativity through culinary innovation and build resilience through the natural cycle of trial, error, and improvement that every chef faces.

Working in our kitchen laboratories, campers practice self-regulation focusing on careful measurement and timing while developing responsibility handling tools and ingredients with care. Together, they strengthen collaboration skills as they create dishes from around the world, discovering gratitude for food's important role in our lives and cultures.

Whether crafting sweet confections or running a restaurant, delicious adventures await. Let's get cooking!

General Daily Schedule:

  • Morning introduction

  • Activity period—approximately 1 hour

  • Snack and stretch break—approximately 15 minutes, outside weather permitting

  • Activity period—approximately 1 hour

  • Lunch and Recess break—approximately 1 hour, outside weather permitting

  • Activity period—approximately 2 hours (included in this time can be a stretch break as needed)

  • Clean up, pack up, dismissal

Culinary Arts Programs

Mad Food Scientists

Mwa-ha-ha-ha! Step into our lab . . . er, kitchen! In Mad Food Scientist, campers get hands-on with the wild science behind their favorite foods. They’ll discover that every recipe is a mini-chemistry experiment, where a pinch of this and a dash of that can lead to amazing (or hilariously unexpected) results! From mixing baking soda and vinegar to exploring the art of measurement, campers will learn how tiny tweaks make a big difference in taste and texture.

Along the way, they’ll develop curiosity as they explore new flavors, perseverance through trial and error, and responsibility as they manage ingredients and tools. By week’s end, they’ll have a lab-tested taste for food science—and a few creative recipes to share at home!

Sweets on the Big Screen

Big screen, bigger flavor! In Sweets on the Big Screen, campers get to taste their favorite movie treats—without any lessons from the Oompa Loompas! This weeklong program brings the magic of cinema to the kitchen as campers recreate iconic sweets from the movies with hands-on guidance and plenty of delicious fun.

As they mix, bake, and decorate with the freshest ingredients, campers will explore the fascinating world of candy and baked goods, discovering how these sweet creations play key roles in their favorite films. With a pinch of creativity and a whole lot of curiosity, campers will collaborate to bring fantasy treats to life, tasting their way through a world of sweet inspiration. Get ready for treats that are as fun to make as they are to eat!

The Great Camp Bake Off

Ready, Set, Bake! At The Great Camp Bake-Off, junior bakers slip on aprons, grab their spatulas, and get ready for a week full of mixing, shaping, and taste-testing! Guided by our pastry pros, campers tackle daily baking challenges using the freshest ingredients, with new recipes daily and weekly. Each day campers learning how to work with dough, balance flavors, and perfect their decorating skills. Each day leads up to our grand finale: the Camp Bake-Off, a friendly competition where campers show off their creations and cheer each other on.

Along the way, they’ll follow their curiosity as they explore new flavors and ingredients, collaborate in group challenges, and learn perseverence through recipe surprises and kitchen mishaps. Whether they’re new to baking or already a pro with a whisk, every camper leaves with new skills, new friends, and a whole lot of sweet memories.
