Art Camp focuses on teaching young artists how to use their creative to design, build, and create!

This summer’s theme - Mini Makers - allows campers to explore the intricate and exciting world of miniature art creation. This camp is designed for those interested in working on small-scale art projects, offering a unique opportunity to develop fine motor skills, attention to detail, and creativity while crafting tiny, detailed works of art. Mini Makers is led by our Discovery Day Camp Art Teacher and local educator, Sarah Magner, who loves to see kids explore their creativity.

Key Features of Mini Makers:

  • Miniature Art Creation: Campers learn to create tiny sculptures, dioramas, model figures, or miniature landscapes, exploring various techniques to create realistic or fantastical small-scale artworks.

  • Focus on Detail: The camp emphasizes precision, patience, and attention to detail, as miniature art often requires working with tiny tools and materials to achieve intricate designs.

  • Variety of Materials: Participants experiment with a range of materials such as wood, paper, fabric, and even natural elements like moss or stones to create their miniature worlds.

  • Projects: Projects may include creating miniature furniture, dollhouses, fantasy settings, and more.

  • Hands-on Skill Development: Children develop skills like building, painting, and assembling, learning to use specialized tools and techniques to bring their tiny creations to life.

  • Artistic Expression: The miniature scale allows campers to express their creativity in new and exciting ways, often requiring them to think outside the box to create lifelike or imaginative works.

  • Inspiration and Creativity: Campers are encouraged to draw inspiration from their surroundings, nature, or their own imagination as they design and build their miniatures.

  • Final Product: At the end of the camp, campers will bring home their miniature creations to display and play!

The Mini Makers Art Camp program offers a specialized and artistic experience, allowing young creators to explore a niche form of art while developing patience, concentration, and artistic skills on a small, precise scale.
